“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.” I Peter 4:10
We bring glory to God and grow in spiritual maturity when we lay down our lives in service to others. We serve the needs of our faith family and the needs of our city in order to shine the light of Jesus into the darkness. Serving inside and outside the church is one of the best ways to meet people and get connected to life at The Parks.
SERVE // CHURCH GATHERED
Be one of the first, friendly faces to greet visiting families and current attenders as they arrive with their children for Sunday services. Possible serving times are 30 minutes before either the 9am or 10:45am services on Sunday.
THE PARKS LITTLES
This is our highest area of need within the church. We need both men and women volunteers to shepherd our little ones through storytelling, playing, reading, and singing during our weekend services. You’ll have the opportunity to serve either babies or toddlers (0-5 yrs) in either the 9am or 10:45am Sunday services once a month.
THE PARKS KIDS
Help disciple our elementary kids by building relationships with them and leading them in worship and teaching on Sunday morning. Opportunities for service are in both the 9am or 10:45am Sunday services once a month.
Assist Sunday morning attenders in finding seats in the service as well as serving communion to the church body.
SET-UP/ TEAR-DOWN CREW
Because we do not own a building, everything pertaining to our Sunday services is set up and torn down each week. This includes the Parks Kids, the Parks Littles, and the main service. Help set up all that is needed for our worship services to function smoothly. Serving opportunities are twice a month.
Be one of the first, friendly faces to greet visiting families and current attenders as they arrive for Sunday services. Help direct families around the facility to get them to the correct location. Available serving times are 30 minutes before either the 9am or 10:45am services twice a month.
SERVE // CHURCH SCATTERED
In response to the overwhelming need for accessible health care in the city, in 2017 we launched a free and charitable health clinic. Beyond providing physical healthcare, our hope is that patients would be cared for spiritually as the gospel is shared and applied. Volunteer opportunities exist in the following areas: Nurses, spiritual care, Spanish translators, administrative volunteers, set-up/tear down crew, truck driver.
HOPE WOMEN’S CENTER
Hope Women’s Center is a non-profit medical clinic serving Collin County and the surrounding North Dallas area. They provide free medical services and accurate information on all options regarding unplanned pregnancy, including education on abortion, adoption, and parenting.
All services provided are free and confidential and include pregnancy test and verification, ultrasounds, STD testing and treatment, options education, post abortion support, and community referral.
DAEP (DISTRICT ALTERNATIVE EDUCATION PROGRAM)
DAEP school is McKinney’s only disciplinary campus K-12th grade. We mentor the students on campus once a week, serve as the staff’s PTA, and organize bags of fresh groceries for the students.
Bags of fresh groceries are delivered throughout the city each week. Join the grocery pick-up team or the grocery bag delivery team to make this ministry possible. The grocery pick-up team is in charge of gathering the food items from various community supermarkets throughout the week. The delivery team is in charge of organizing supplies and putting bags together for drop-off each week.
In 2013, The Parks Church began serving the city’s first regularly occurring warm meal to the homeless and food insecure of McKinney. We need volunteers in food-prep and food service. The meal is served every Sunday afternoon at The Salvation Army. Opportunities for service are weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, or bi-monthly.
Illumin8 is a local ministry dedicated to reaching at-risk kids in McKinney’s lower income housing (at The McKinney Housing Authority). A typical evening at Illumin8 finds the kids playing, singing, and laughing as volunteers share the gospel through games, crafts, a Bible lesson, music, occasional special guest or event and a lot of LOVE! Before serving as a volunteer, you will have plenty of training with Illumin8’s leaders and volunteers. In these preparation meetings, you will discuss the details of Illumin8 while gaining some cultural insights. Commitment to serve the entire school year with the Illumin8 team is expected.
